چکیده

Trejo, William (Squibb Institute for Medical Research, New Brunswick, N.J.) and Ralph E. Bennett. Streptomyces nodosus sp. n., the amphotericin-producing organism. J. Bacteriol. 85:436-439. 1963.-Streptomyces nodosus, the amphotericin-producing organism, is described as a new species in conformity with the rules of nomenclature as applied to streptomycetes. The relationship between S. nodosus and S. rutgersensis is discussed, and the basis for separation of the species is presented.

Community structure and antibiotic production of Streptomyces nodosus bioreactors cultured in liquid environments

Immobilized bacteria are being assessed by industry for drug delivery, novel fermentation systems and the protection of organisms in harsh environments. Alginate bioreactors containing Streptomyces nodosus were examined for community structure, cell viability and amphotericin production under different growth conditions. When cell proliferation was encouraged, substrate hyphae were found inside...

In Situ Detection of Antibiotic Amphotericin B Produced in Streptomyces nodosus Using Raman Microspectroscopy

The study of spatial distribution of secondary metabolites within microbial cells facilitates the screening of candidate strains from marine environments for functional metabolites and allows for the subsequent assessment of the production of metabolites, such as antibiotics. This paper demonstrates the first application of Raman microspectroscopy for in situ detection of the antifungal antibio...

Isolation and characterisation of amphotericin B analogues and truncated polyketide intermediates produced by genetic engineering of Streptomyces nodosus.

Amphotericin B is a powerful but toxic drug used against fungal infections and leishmaniases. These diseases would be treated more effectively if non-toxic amphotericin derivatives could be produced on a large scale at low cost. Genetic manipulation of the amphotericin B producer, Streptomyces nodosus, has previously led to the detection and partial characterisation of 8-deoxyamphotericin B, 16...

Study of Anti-fungal Effects of Isolated streptomyces sp. from Gorgan Areas

Abstract Bachground and objectives:Streptomyces is the most important genus in Actinomycetes family. The Streptomycetes are widely used in industry producing numerous chemical compounds including antibiotics, enzymes and anti- tumor agents. The aim of this study was to isolate soil-borne Streptomyces producing antimicrobial substances from soil of Golestan province of Iran and to survey anti-fun...

Redesign of polyene macrolide glycosylation: engineered biosynthesis of 19-(O)-perosaminyl-amphoteronolide B.

Most polyene macrolide antibiotics are glycosylated with mycosamine (3,6-dideoxy-3-aminomannose). In the amphotericin B producer, Streptomyces nodosus, mycosamine biosynthesis begins with AmphDIII-catalyzed conversion of GDP-mannose to GDP-4-keto-6-deoxymannose. This is converted to GDP-3-keto-6-deoxymannose, which is transaminated to GDP-mycosamine by the AmphDII protein. The glycosyltransfera...
